Haunted Chavez

The Haunted Chavez projects had to be the hardest project I have done in class this year, most people may think it was easy but not for me. The project was based on idea’s, we had to make any part of our school Chavez a setting of our project. The project had to consist of all of our own ideas. We had to make sure we took all the pictures, we had to have a empathis , and the leading line was suppose to lead to the main point of the picture. The project had to deal with everything we have learned about Photoshop. Recently we learned a lot of things like how to make things in invisible and how to merge things and make them completely different, we had to use those techniques. When I first heard of the project I was excited because I thought I had proper ideas, I had already knew what I wanted to do like in the next five minutes. While I was taking the pictures my idea’s was still going good but as I got in class things just wasn’t working. When I begin to work on the photo in class things didn’t fall into place. My idea was to take a picture on the playground and have little killer babies coming for me and my partner Ashley. As I begin to work on Photoshop I ended up changing the whole picture. The way I took the picture made me think of something different. I changed it so that my partner was the one turning into some weird kind of monster and I was afraid of her. I don’t think the project would have been so difficult for me if things would of fall into place like I wanted them to. My knowledge on Photoshop is average so I don’t think that had nothing to do with the project, I was just trying to meet all the requirements. I wanted to change my whole project but when I thought of that it was already too late. The most difficult thing was to think about what you wanted to use in Photoshop to make it better, I didn’t know weather I wanted to make the babies ghost or did I want them to be a zombie. The problems I faced was should I turn it in how it is, should I try to make them a little better or just don’t turn it in at all?? I decided to make it a little better then turn it in how it is. I was trying to get help on how could I make my picture better but it was not our teacher assignment it was mine so if she would of gave me a lot of ideas then it would have been like she done the whole thing for me. She did help me with something’s and I thank her for that. Only thing I really think I did well was take the picture, my Photoshop extras in the picture wouldn’t have made a big difference. Overall, I think the project was difficult but great at the same time. Some people got really creative on theirs and it was nice to see what they came up with.

Critique:Parkeharrison's "Guardian"

Standing in a tall skinny tree, holds a dangerous crazy business man, looking down at the ground while he’s thinking about jumping. His feet tangled while his arms out wide.He looks like he’s tired of life and cant take it no more. The guy is clearly the emphasis. After noticing the guy hanging, you'll see the branches thats holding him up.A raspy wind of dust block out the background with sharp tree branches laying below. The picture has a great illustration of a man in a very sad weakened emotion.

Scary Expressions

The zombie picture was my favorite picture to create. This picture looks like a person in a nasty place, the black-greenish background make it look like the place smells weird. It look like the zombie just ate someone or something, you could see the objects blood running down.By looking at the hair you could see that the zombie had a wild night and it looks like she's ready to attack the next thing she see.If I seen a person like this in real life I would run and scream HELLLLLLLLLLP!!!

This picture looks like it was taking in the evening time close to the mountains. The setting would be a very scary place to be, you’re already in a graveyard while its almost night time and you have spirits behind you .I’m pretty sure if a person that has spirits behind them will hear raspy laughs, low whispers, and feel wind blowing. I would never want to be in a place like this because you could easily get locked in so where would you go??? Either just get torched by the ghost or run and jump off a mountain...either way you're going to DIE!!!!

When I take a look at this photo I think of a plain human turning into something strange. It looks like I could go somewhere alone and change my face to become a monster. The guy behind me is about to become my victim.I like the picture but it would of been better if I covered more of my face,It look like a person that could of been in a fire like 3 mins ago but only part of the face was burned.I also like the contractions I did with my eyes,If I seen a regular person with eyes like that they will be really cool.If I seen this person in real life,I may stop and talk to them depending on how they come at me,if I think they seem cool then I would speak and be friendly. If I seen a person like this looking mad then I would just mind my own business.

The Scream:My interpretation

One sunny afternoon Jimmy and his bestfriend Eric was enjoying the day at the lake. They was playing kick ball, the ball happened to roll all the way down the dock.Eric went to go get it,as he ran he felt a strong wind and heard whistles. Eric didnt think of anything frightening so he went further. Eric went to a distanct where he was invisible and Jimmy could no longer see him. About 6 mins later Jimmy seen water splash from the lake,He yelled Eric name but there was no answer so he ran down the lake. As he was running he felt a strong wind knock him on his behind,as he tried to get up he kept hearing a laughter. When he got up he started walking further then he seen two men covered in black costumes,Jimmy turned around and started running and screaming at the top of his lungs. The guys started laughing,as they took off the mask it appeared to be Eric and Jimmy's friend Mark. The strong wind was coming from the autumn season.

Creative Me

This project was an opportunity for us to put the tools we have learned to use. We were to take one of our portraits, and change it creatively using the following: selection tools, layers, adjustment layers, layer styles, blending options, paint brushes and opacity.
I like how I was able to change the color of the dirt,I made it look a little darker like its wet mud.The tool I used most was the magnetic lasso and the paint brush.I used the paint brush often to color certain areas. All the tools make pictures look good so I think all the tools are great.Im pretty confident with the photoshop knowledge,I pick up on things easily and so far Im not having any trouble with the tools.

Adjustment Layers

In this exercise we learned about Adjustment layers. Adjustment layers allow you to add adjustments to your image on separate layers instead of directly to the image itself. This comes in handy during long complicated projects. In Photoshop every tool is specifically designed to help improve your photo. However, here we took some artistic liberties and explored adjustments creatively.

Self Portraits

For our Self-Portrait project we were to take three self-portraits. They were all to be in black and white, and they were all to capture a mood of some sort. We were also challenged to be as artistic as possible, and stay as far away from normal, cliche portraits that we see on personal pages etc. as possible. One had to use the rule of thirds as the base for the composition; One had to incorporate leading lines, and one had to be taken from a more extreme angle.

The picture I got the best grade on was my leading line.My favorite picture out of the 3 was my extreme angles picture.I like that picture the most because of the setting,I like how the tree branches could play the role of lines.I like the angle that I was in but the picture is just simple.Next time I could take a little bit more time and put more thought into the picture.I think people could tell I was just ready to get the picture over and done with.I could have also changed the facial structure,I was just looking off,If I would of had more emotion then it would of been better.Overall I think the picture was great,I dont think it was perfect and I dont think it was horrible.

Contact Sheet

I enjoyed working on photoshop to make my contact sheet.Working on this contact sheet helped me learn alot about photoshop and helped me learn how to use the tools. One of the things I did well was add text and color texture to my pictures,I didnt have any trouble doing that. What I could of did better was fill up all the spaces, stretch the photos out enough so I wouldnt have any white spots. When the teacher asked what photo I liked best,I stated the extreme angles photo.I like that picture because it look really nice in black and white,I liked the position my partner was in on the fence, and I liked the position I was in when I took the picture.Looking at my contact sheet I really like the micro:depth of field,I like the way the color of the text blend in with the color of the flower. The flower looks nice and the way I designed the photo looks nice to me.My best trick to use would have to be the micro:texture.I like to use that one because it point out details no one pays attention to,looking at micro texture you will find alot of interesting things in something.

Compositional Trick #5 Cropping

Cropping is a trick that photographers do all the time, even if they don't realize it. Every time a photographer chooses to cut something out of his/her frame, before they snap the photo, that is in essence cropping. We also have learned tools on Photoshop that allow us to crop an image after we have taken it. When cropping in Photoshop it is possible to improve our composition or change it completely.

I just chopped the sides in this photo,I also added my name to the bottom of the photo.I like this photo better because its smaller and my name goes with the blurry flower. To chop this photo I just used the crop tool to cut it horizonally and vertically.

Compositional Trick #4:Extreme Angles

I took a picture of my partner Ashley,She was sitting on the fence and I was under her near the ground. The black and white makes the picture stand out, thats what I like most about it.Ashley looks like she's in a daze, just chilling and thinking about life.To make this picture better,I think I could have took it from a lower angle and also could have gotten in front in her.Taking pictures from position angles makes the picture better because it doesnt just look straight forward. When you take standard pictures,it just looks plain,it would be considered a snap shot.I would rather take a picture with a position because it gives the picture a point,it makes the picture look like you're a real photographer.

Compositional Trick #3:Macro

The things thats small in person appear bigger when looking through the micro function. That small thing appears to be the main subject of the picture, everything in the background doesn't matter.Depth of field is how far a person could look into the background. To have a deep field means you could see things in the background clearly, the picture keeps going.Having a shallow depth of field means that your main subject is pointed out but everything in the background is blurry,it no longer matters. To me at times I think the micro would be the compositional trick when I have a good looking single object,I would use this because the object is by itself so I wouldnt need to see anything else, nothing else would be important.I would use the micro texture when I have a interesting thing to look at,I would use this to figure out the important details.I used The flower photo because this flower is very beautiful and it has a shallow depth of field.By looking at my photo you could see easily what was my main point,Using the micro function helped me block out the tree branches and tree leaves. In the micro texture picture,I picked this one because by just glancing at it you wouldnt notice the water but the white bubbles make you notice its a little puddle of water.

Compositional Trick #2:Leading Lines

Leading lines leads you to your main subject.Leading
lines could lead your eyes into the whole picture. If the lines isnt leading you to anything or if its too many lines then it could mess up the picture. The person eyes could get lost and the person would focus on a different thing.
In my picture im trying to have people eyes focus on the champion sign,There's alot in the photo so it may throw you off.

Compositional Trick #1 Rule of Thirds

When dealing with the rule of thirds, you have to get the subject to the far right or far left, anywhere but directly in the middle. In my photo,I tried to put my subject on the top right side.Everytime I took a picture I made sure it wasnt in the middle.Another thing to keep in mind is when you taking your picture make sure the subject is very far because when you upload it,it gets bigger and it doesnt look like its in the rule of thirds.
